Evangelistic Celebration Recap February 2, 2008

The evening went very smoothly. Amidst the chaos of the shelter treating for bedbugs, there was an unusual sense of peace in our meeting.  The ladies and children have had to remove (in stages) all of their personal belongings. Some items are unsalvageable. Each of the five dorms must be dealt with separately. Due to the infestation, all wooden beds, linens, etc., must be destroyed. Several of the residents showed us the results of being bitten; a rash appearing like hives on arms, legs and under the eye. I applaud the shelter staff for being organized and dealing so professionally with the situation.  Please keep the staff and residents in your prayers in terms of controlling this problem. An issue such as this just exasperates tension.

We were privileged to hear the testimony of David Mock.  He shared of his victory over addiction. The residents were engaged as David spoke so candidly the details of how alcoholism destroys life. He encouraged the youngsters to choose their social contacts wisely, as this was the introduction to the destructive years that followed. Praise God David has been clean and miraculously delivered for approximately18 months. David’s heart and lifestyle choices are now surrendered to God. The Lord is always so faithful to begin a new work in our lives upon our decision to give Him Lordship. David is now enjoying life as he is in the beautiful process of restoration.

As always, we’d like to celebrate those who have acknowledged Jesus as Savior and Lord!
